Topic 20: 10 years of Women Participation: Challenges and Success Stories

The energy sector is widely regarded as one of the least gender diverse industry.  Although gender gaps may differ across different sub-sectors and regions, the oil and gas industry is traditionally known to be largely male-dominated industry. Data available in the upstream petroleum industry In Ghana shows that less than 5% of Ghanaian businesses are owned by women and less than 20% of Ghanaian employees are women. Despite the challenges, the industry has witnessed women participation in the delivery of technical goods and services.

This session delves into the challenges faced by women and women owned businesses and highlights inspiring success stories that have emerged against the odds. Panelists will provide insights, and solutions to enhance women participation in the industry.
