Topic 1: The 10-Year Journey: Reflecting on Successes, Challenges and Lessons Learnt

The promulgation of the Petroleum (Local Content and Local Participation) Regulations in 2013 was primarily to develop local capacities, enhance Ghanaian expertise, promote research and technological development, and create petroleum and related supportive industries that will sustain economic development. After ten (10) years of the passage of the Regulations, it is imperative to assess its performance to ascertain whether the tenets of the Regulations have been achieved.

The topic will explore how Ghana has navigated the complexities of promoting local content, successes achieved, challenges faced, and the invaluable lessons learned along the way. Panelists will offer valuable insights and recommendations for both Ghana and other countries seeking to develop and refine their own local content policies in the extractive industries.
